From the Publisher’s Desk: Looking Ahead
2TruLife Magazine is making a new and improved mark in the tri-cities. We have seen what these communities have to offer and listened to our readers and heard what they want to see more of. What kind of improvements can you expect to see? Well, we are broadening our content from health and wellness to cover all facets of achieving and inspiring a positive lifestyle with our local resources, as well as community members. This includes many of the movers and shakers we will interview and whom you can nominate us to feature. We are also implementing a redesigned art direction on the cover to communicate our broadened content. Additionally, you will enjoy our new fun favourites; pieces like crosswords, humour, wordsearches and factoids, along with lots of contests and giveaways to check out will now be available.
As founders of the magazine, we strive to reach out to the community in every aspect of day-to-day life. Currently, we are actively involved in a number of charities and community networks. In September, we attended the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre’s annual Information, Inspiration, Innovation event with keynote speaker Erin Brockovich. We had the pleasure of dining with Erin and her husband, Eric Ellis at Wildcraft the night before. This event was an amazing opportunity for us to learn about what individuals like Erin do to enhance community, as well as see first hand, the benefits this presentation has for the tri-cities.
As active as we are, we have a thirst for more knowledge and more importantly, we want to know more about you. We invite all of the tri-cities to communicate with us on a regular basis. Did you know that Trulife has a regular community events section that is 100% free and can be used for any charitable based company to advertise their event? In addition, we also place these announcements on our website, for enhanced exposure. If you have not yet had the opportunity to view our website it is a fully interactive site with blogging on every article, videos and search engines.
TruLife Magazine is published by Empire Horizons Inc. Allow us to also introduce our team. The graphics team consists of Richerd Reynolds and Kevin Cook. Richerd is a highly experienced senior art director who is overlooking overall layout and design. Kevin has been a huge asset to the team as our graphic designer, working with clients, writers, and has a level of customer service unmatched in the industry. The editorial team consists of Bessie Schenk and Michele Aubie. Bessie has been with TruLife since nearly day one as a professional content editor; and she has the skill and turnover time required in the fast paced business of print. Michele is the latest addition to the team in the role of editor-in-chief. Michele is our very own Dear Aubie and she is here to help us deliver the content you want to see. Send her your thoughts, comments, questions or suggestions by posting a comment on our website, trulifemagazine.ca, or by sending her an email at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Between Michele and Bessie, you will not find a better group of dedicated editors that have their hand on the pulse of tri-cities.
Here is a sneak peak at some of the upcoming content we will be featuring: New developments with the Bauer Lofts and the Hawking Wing at Perimeter Institute; Eco Entrepreneurs, shedding light on local businesses and services that create and endorse environmentally friendly products like the revolutionary re-breathing scuba system; Keeping kids fit and motivated, how to lower child obesity rates.
As always, we are very grateful to our readers, contributors and advertisers who have helped TruLife Magazine grow and evolve into a great community magazine. We look forward to continuing to offer this service to you. Thank you!
